Every year, the remodeling industry gathers for the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS). Fabricators, designers, and builders share the newest ideas to shape how homes will look and function in the years ahead.

For us at Lane Homes, attending KBIS is about more than just seeing new products; it’s about discovering better ways to serve you and bring thoughtful ideas back to the Richmond community. This year’s show nothing short of inspiring.

Every Shade, Everywhere

The most noticeable trend across the exhibit floor was the continued return of bold color choices. Neutral palettes continue to be a staple, but the inclusion of daring, richly saturated hues is unable to be ignored. Many manufacturers showcased their cabinetry, fixtures, and appliances in hues across the rainbow spectrum.

The above vignette showcases a Kohler’s teal toilet, supported by teal and pink checkerboard tile. Creating unique pocket-sized moments of color intermixed into a home with classical stylings gives homeowners variety in their aesthetic.

For anyone who wants more vibrancy in their space, start with a statement powder room. It is the perfect entry point to experiment with different visual stylings without worrying about how it will look next to adjacent spaces of the home. And it’s not all or nothing either; thoughtful accents, layered finishes, and natural texture are all great elements to add the canvas of a home that can make it feel personal to you.

Smarter Homes Through Technology

Technology is integrated into the home than ever before. Many appliance manufacturers showcased products that use artificial intelligence to automatically adjust performance based on the needs of its user.

Your dishwashers can optimize water and energy usage depending on the size of the load. Your oven can recognize the meal you’re preparing and adjust internal temperatures dynamically. The photo above highlights a smart steam closet designed to steam clothing on a schedule set by the user

Innovations are designed to make everyday living easier. The goal of manufacturers is to make the appliances in your home work intuitively to the needs of you and your family.

Learning and Connecting with Industry Leaders

Another valuable part of the trip was the opportunity to connect with other professionals across the country. KBIS brings together designers, builders, architects, and product manufacturers who are all passionate about improving the way homes are designed and built.

These conversations often spark ideas that never happen in a showroom or office. By sharing knowledge and learning from others in the industry, we are able to refine our process and bring fresh perspectives to the projects we create for our clients.

Celebrating a Win for Lane Homes

One of the most exciting moments of the trip was celebrating a major milestone for our own team.

Ella Kirsch, one of our designers, was recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association as part of their 30 Under 30 program. Each year, this honor highlights thirty young professionals across the country who are making meaningful contributions to the industry and demonstrating a strong commitment to its future.

Being selected for this program is a significant achievement. It reflects Ella’s dedication to thoughtful design, her passion for helping homeowners create spaces they love, and the impact she is already making in our industry.

We are incredibly proud to have her on our team and grateful for the care and creativity she brings to our clients every day.

Bringing Ideas Back to You

Lane Homes had a blast at KBIS 2026, but the value comes after we return home.

Every conversation, product discovery, and trend we explore helps us better guide homeowners through the remodeling process. Our goal is always the same. To listen carefully, design thoughtfully, and create spaces that truly support the way you live.

We look forward to bringing these ideas into future projects and continuing to help Richmond families fall in love with their homes all over again.
